2008 NSC National Two-Man Best-Ball Golf Tournament

Golf is a game, which affords endless opportunities as far as competition is concerned. While most other sports have three or four different formats, golf has innumerable variations specially at the amateur level.

The USGA lists out 18 different types of tournaments as individual events and 5 more as team events. There is a need for variations in the game, more specifically, there is a need for the excitement of match play in competitive golf.

Just as a steady diet of meat and potatoes loses its appeal over time, an endless routine of stroke-play rounds can dull a player's sense of competition and enjoyment. So the importance of match play as a variant format can never be over emphasized. Even in junior golf competitions, match play events are being held to build the competitiveness in the junior golfer.
